In a regulatory filing with the New York State Department of Labor, Lehigh Hanson said layoffs at Lehigh Cement’s Glens Falls plant will take place between April 3 and April 17 as it prepares to shut down the facility, reported the Times Union.
The plant currently has a full-time staff of 85.
Lehigh said some employees would be kept on as the plant is shut down in phases. The entire process is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2023.
In November, Lehigh announced that it was closing the Glens Falls plant due to the costs related to running an aging and smaller-scale plant. Lehigh Cement’s Cementon, N.Y, plant will help supplement the lost output from the Glens Falls operation in the New England region.
